You can get the image of your house etc removed, just click on the 'report a problem' in the bottom left and fill in the form. I did, for our back garden and they removed it fairly quickly. Now, thanks to this thread, Ive just asked them to remove the image from the front too!! |

That's scary! Do I have to pay for a download, I don't want it, don't want to pay for it, but if the same is happening at my house.....

No cost to look at the streetview. Just go to google, click maps on top left, then enter your postcode. Then pull (click and hold) the little yellow man on to the map of your road. Then you can use the tools to look around the outside of your house, peer into your neighbours front room etc!!! Last edited by glenw; 11-03-2010 at 05:25 PM. |

Thanks for that, Glen!
There's a pic of my old Daisy roma and red honda in the drive... Shall I take it off? I now have green car and caravan. My poor neighbour is outside in her dressing gown getting the milk off the doorstep! She wouldn't be pleased if she saw it - but she doesn't use a computer! |

We have been on this for so long the tree is now 10 feet taller! Even my old nets are up there. I have not visited my sister in person for so long now, we just pop round on street view.
Hopefully you don't need to worry Graham as the photos won't be any help to people wanting to find out if you are away as your van will be on show on your drive for years and years even after you may have sold it. Burglars will always be able to see if you are away though when you have a van. I always worry when we take ours away as it is always there and then gone for a week or two. The drive looks noticeably bare with just the car left there. Pity you did not know the photos were being taken as you could have hired a large dog for to pose. BIG BROTHER is watching you! I am feeling very uncomfortable with all this survellience around in the Uk in particular.
Privacy is soon going to be a very rare commodity. |

Phew - this is getting scary.
At least, by a stroke of luck, my Roo isn't shown and our road has been inaccurately named. |

I followed immediately behind the Google Earth photography vehicle for several miles and was expecting to see myself on there sooner or later.
That was over a year ago though and the stretch of road has finally appeared but I'm not on it. They must have gone back and photographed it again. They probably didn't want to publish such a lot of coverage of a scruffy old campervan with an old git in the front, busy pointing a camera back at them. |

We have identified that our house was snapped almost exactly 1 year ago, although the picture has only just appeared. They must have travelled up our road on one of the very few days that the 'van was on the front drive, it normally resides in the side garden behind tall gates.
Not sure whether to demand the image be removed. Security wise probably not a problem, especially as the address displayed puts us in the wrong part of the borough, not even the same postcode area ![]() I just don't like the Big Brother aspect of it all. Perhaps I might feel better if Mr head honcho of Google told us all where HE lives so that we can eyeball HIS house. ![]() Barry |

Well it just came in handy for me, helped me find the entrance to a car park that I will be using on Sunday. The PAY one is M & S and the FREE Council one is adjacent but I wanted to find the exact entrance as I may be in a rush as usual! The little man took me straight there and I could see the council sign as well as the way NOT to go to end up in M & S. On the normal map it was not so clear. I am sure he made a little bow when he arrived at the entrance!!!

Very addictive int it, now I have looked at all the places I used to live, old schools, houses I visited as child, I am using it to check car parks in places we are planning to visit. I now have to put them into the sat nav. OK for checking for height bars as well (if you have a bread van
).

You just have to remember that what you see is already out of date (like the satellite images on Google), and things like car park entrances may have changed since the pictures were taken.
